About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of St Anthony in Iecava is a modern shrine of the Diocese of Jelgava in the centre of the town of Iecava.
The Catholic community in Iecava began to form in 1993–1994, and the parish was officially registered in 1997. The new church was built mostly with donations from German Catholic organisations, and was consecrated on 23 August 2009 in honour of St Anthony.
It is a masonry building of Modernist architecture with a single tower 38 metres high, in which a bell cast in Poland has been hung. The church is considered one of the most modern shrines in the Bauska area.
