About the Church
The Church of St Anthony at Kaplava is a Roman Catholic church in the village of Kaplava, in Krāslava Municipality, on the left bank of the Daugava close to the border with Belarus. It belongs to the Diocese of Jelgava.
For a long time the Catholics of Kaplava attended the nearby churches of Jaunborne and Krāslava. An independent parish at Kaplava was formed and registered in 1997, and a chapel dedicated to St Anthony was fitted out for services. It serves a small community of believers in this border area.
