About the Church

The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Stoļerova is in the village of Stoļerova, in the Rēzekne municipality, in Latgale. The church belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona and is dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

The first Stoļerova church was built in 1770 at the expense of the nobleman Sokolovskis, but in 1968, during the Soviet period, it was plundered and burned down. After Latvia regained its independence, the parish built a new masonry church of red brick, which was consecrated in 1999.

The present church serves the Catholics of Stoļerova and the surrounding settlements and is one example of the revival of Catholic life in Latgale, in which churches destroyed under Soviet rule were rebuilt anew.
