About the Church
The Šilutė Church of the Holy Cross was built in 1854; it is a Catholic church standing in Šilutė. It has features of Gothic Revival and Romanesque Revival, a rectangular plan, a single tower, and a projecting porch. The church has three altars, adorned with sculptures – the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (the high altar) and the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary (the side altars). The present parish priest is Remigijus Saunorius.

Šilutės Šv. Kryžiaus bažnyčia (pastatyta 1854 m.) ir našlaičių prieglauda. Vaikų prieglaudą įsteigė kunigas Wichmann 1888 m. Į ją priimdavo pamestinukus ir našlaičius. 1904-1905 m. kunigo Brix iniciatyva pastatytas naujas prieglaudos pastatas. Po karo prieglauda nebeveikė. Joje buvo įrengti komunaliniai butai. 1949 m. kovo 1 d. šiame pastate atidaryta Respublikinė vaikų sanatorija „Eglutė“.
