About the Church
The Church of the Transfiguration of Christ is in Krokialaukis, 10 km northeast of Simnas. It was built in 1869–1872 of stone and brick masonry and was consecrated by Bishop Antanas Baranauskas in 1899. It has three altars and is surrounded by a wooden fence. The architectural style is Historicist, with a rectangular plan, two towers, and a rectangular apse with sacristies attached. It also has a choir added in the early 20th century by Leonas Bujanauskas.
