About the Church
The Church of the Mother of God in Arendole (Roman Catholic) stands in the village of Arendole, in the Rožkalni civil parish, the Preīli municipality, Latgale. It belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
An octagonal wooden chapel stood here previously, where services were held several times a year; in 1916, during the First World War, it was burned down. After the war, through the efforts of Fr Vitālis Treibšs, a church was set up in a former manor building; it was consecrated in October 1936. During the Soviet period, in 1966, the church was confiscated, and in 1989 it was returned to the faithful; the bell tower was rebuilt in 2004.
It is a modestly sized masonry church, about 19 metres long.
