About the Church
The Church of St Vincent de Paul at Naujoji Ūta stands in the village of Naujoji Ūta, about 7 km east of Igliauka, near the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė highway, in Prienai district.
The wooden church was built in 1924 by the priest Vincentas Dumčius (1886–1986) together with the parishioners. In 1944 the building burned down, and services were held elsewhere for a time. In 1963 the church was closed and was only rebuilt and returned to the faithful in 1990.
The church, of vernacular architectural forms, is of rectangular plan, with a single tower, an apse and low sacristies at the sides; it is built entirely of wood. Modest and cosy, it preserves the distinctive spirit of Sūduva's wooden sacred architecture.
