About the Church
The Church of the Deliverance of St Peter in Patilčiai stands in the village of Patilčiai, on the western edge of Igliškėliai, near the Vilnius–Marijampolė road, in Marijampolė district municipality.
The parish here was founded in 1920 through the efforts of the priest J. Danielius, by joining parts of three neighbouring parishes. For a long time the faithful gathered in a temporary wooden church. The present masonry church was built in 2009–2010 to a design by the architect Arūnas Lukoševičius; the first services were held there at Christmas 2009. Interestingly, material from the old Zapyškis church of 1905–1915 was built into the church's foundation stones.
The masonry church, modern in style, has restrained forms, and a gallery is fitted inside.
